I was in downtown Tokyo during the earthquakes. At least a couple of dozen earthquakes hit us since the afternoon. The first and second ones were the strongest. At first it was amazing because it didn't stop like they usually do after a few seconds, it just continued to get bigger--then it was scary! The first one was an amazing experience. It was so big and lasted a few minutes so I quickly started to assume it may be the big one and buildings may start collapsing around me. Luckily, I wasn't in my office (which was rocked), but I was near the entrance and able to get outside and to a clearing away from cars and overhead wire. I think what stopped buildings from collapsing in Tokyo was that the earthquake wasn't a jerking motion, it was huge rolling motion that buildings were simply riding. Cars and anything else not nailed down were being tossed around and overhead lines look like they would collapse. I could see the tallest buildings and seeing the tops sway meters at a time. A few minutes later was a weird feeling when huge loudspeakers announced tsunami warnings in downtown Tokyo!!
By the way, the earthquakes are still happening--watching on tv. A significant portion of northern mainland is still in telecom and energy blackout. There is a lot of uncertainty about the conditions in northern Japan since there are a lot of places people still cannot contact. To make things worst most trains and a lot of highways are down. Its horrible because I am sure there are a lot of trapped people out there that cannot be reached right now.

The cause of the earthquake would be extremely interesting to ascertain, however, the event is no longer relevant to the price of silver. It's effects have been very short lived despite inordinate media attention [this is still relevant to price of silver]. I would like to extend my sympathies to all those affected by the quake. I wish them all a full and speedy recovery.
If you still don't think that a bunch of incompetent narcissists are in charge of the financial system then I pray thee, what would convince you of this?
